Racers Bantam AA Continue Silver Sticks Success
December 15th 2007 - In their third season together under the direction of Coach Mark Catron, the 1993 Indianapolis Racers Bantam Major AA team brought home their third consecutive win in the Midwest Regional Silver Sticks Tournament held in Dayton, Ohio in early December 2007.

To advance to the final round of the championship, the Racers defeated the North Hills (PA) Vipers 6-1, the Sylvania (OH) Maple Leafs 9-0, and the Charlotte (NC) Junior Checkers 5-1.  In the final game of the tournament, the Racers came from behind in the third period to tie the game against the Toledo (OH) Cherokee 1-1 and take it into sudden-victory overtime, where the Racers scored the winning goal on Hunter Cox’s goal and assist from J.C. Campagna.  Griffin Strain was in goal for the final game.  (In the 2006 tournament, the two combined on J.C. Campagna’s goal and Hunter Cox’s assist in overtime to win the 2006 Midwest Regional.)  The team advances to the Silver Sticks International Finals in Port Huron, Michigan on January 10-14, 2008.

The Racers represent the Indianapolis Racers Travel Hockey Association in the Central States Developmental League (CSDHL) based in Chicago.    As of December 17, 2007, the Racers were ranked number one in the nation by the National Hockey Rankings website (www.nationalhockeyrankings.com) which ranks 254 Tier II AA Bantam Major teams across the country.
